Ergonom Furnishes New Shepherd and Wedderburn Offices - 12.06.08

Ergonom has been chosen to work with office design specialists Denton Associates on the new headquarters of leading UK law firm Shepherd and Wedderburn.

Following a rapid expansion in 2007, Shepherd and Wedderburn decided to move its Edinburgh offices to a larger, more modern space in Exchange Crescent, Conference Square. Over 400 staff will be occupying nearly 60,000 square feet in this ideal location, minutes from Edinburgh Castle.

Ergonom has installed elements from several ranges notably Progetto walls and P4 screen panels, which maximize the natural light that suffuses the offices as well as Easy workstations and Storwal storage units.

‘The building doesn’t have a deep floorplate, which allows most of the staff to be seated close to the perimeter,’ said Hamish Gregorie. ‘The views are wonderful and there’s a lot of natural light which is particularly enhanced by the glass of the Progetto walls.’

The client has also chosen the durable but elegant P4 panels for their outstanding weight-bearing capacity, as they will have to accommodate heavy legal books and document binders.

The office’s décor, characterised by the use of oak finishes, is generally in keeping with the firm’s traditional aesthetic. Contemporary touches include Unifor’s computer monitor arms, which extend from above the desks of the oak-veneered Easy workstations.

A highlight of the project has been the opportunity for the project team to conduct a review workshop on-site at the Unifor factory in Como, Italy, to finalise all solutions and confirm details.
